We developed a strategy for pedestrian and cycle access routes along the River Lea as part of an exciting physical regeneration framework for the Leamouth Peninsula. It links with a competition winning bridge between the boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets in East London.
The riverside path is designed to stringent sustainable principles to achieve on-site drainage and to provide wildlife corridors whilst retaining the integrity of the riverbank. Ruderal habitats are restored along the river’s edge and the erection of a green wall has been negotiated with Crossrail to replace hoarding in an adjacent site. A cohesive strategy promoting a new mixed-use urban quarter brings together previously disconnected areas and links them to adjacent transport hubs.
