Centaur Street

London, UK

Our design for the front and rear gardens of this innovative contemporary house responded to the overlooked site directly adjacent to the former Eurostar railway viaduct, in South London. The design reflects the gritty urban setting, with enduring hard finishes which are softened with carefully sited soft landscape elements bringing relief to the urban form of the rear garden.  The great height of the viaduct wall has been successfully screened with a vigorous green wall whose seasonal colours bring year round interest and colour.

One Centaur Street, designed by deRijke Marsh Morgan, took the overall prize in competition with eighteen other award- winning buildings to take the London Building of the Year Award 2003.
